Pack a picnic lunch, grab your camera and set out discover our picturesque rainforest. Follow a scenic trail along one of our many rivers, hike or bike a challenging mountain track, or dip your paddle in the quiet waters of Spider Lake. Our parks and trails offer a wide range of activities to suit your preferred pace.

Horne Lake Caves Provincial Park features the world famous Horne Lake Caves. Two of the largely undeveloped caves in the park are open to the public for self-guided exploring year-round.

Other activities on Horne Lake include canoeing , kayaking , hiking , fishing and mountain biking.

Although there is no camping within the park, Horne Lake Regional Park offers overnight camping and daily nature programs. The 260-acre Regional Park includes about 3 kilometres of lakefront and another 2 kilometres of riverfront along the Qualicum River that bisects the Park property. The Park offers spectacular views of area mountains and cliffs.

Spider Lake Provincial Park is a day-use only park that offers a peaceful, serene alternative to the bustle of its neighbour, Horne Lake. Spider Lake is a 57 hectare lake found in a setting of rural forests, yet just minutes from the Inland Island Highway

No power boats are allowed on Spider Lake, making it perfect for canoeing and kayaking. The shallow, warm water of the lake make it a favourite swimming and picnic site.

Bring your own boat, launch it into this calm lake and discover the shoreline of secluded bays. Fish for bass or trout year-round. Explore the lakeside trails and nearby picturesque abandoned logging trails. Spider Lake is a favourite family destination.

A few minutes to the north of Deep Bay is Rosewall Creek Provincial Park. This 54 hectare park has a trail that meanders up the creek. Have a picnic in one of the two picnic sites one at the side of the creek and the other looking down onto the creek. Where Rosewall Creek enters Qualicum Bay, is a well used spot for riverbank casting. The many maple trees that line the riverbank make this a colourful place to be in the fall when you must not forget to bring your camera along.

Their is also a developed trail system throughout the area. You can access more information on our Regional District Website.

We have all the benefits of a rural lifestyle, yet we are only 20 minutes away from superb shopping facilities in nearby towns and cities. The new Inland Island Highway (Hwy. 19) from Nanaimo to Campbell River, provides us with quick access to the larger urban areas and the ferries. The highway is located about 3 km inland from the existing highway and is a freeway with a 110-km/h (70 mph) speed limit
